This site is run by Byter Ltd, company number 11372197, 33 Cavendish Square, London. We are the data controller for information collected on onlycumbria.com.

What we collect

  • Your email address if you join our email list, so we can send it. You can unsubscribe from any email.
  • Your name, email and message if you use the contact form, so we can reply.
  • Usage statistics through Google Analytics, only if you allow cookies when asked, to understand which pages are useful. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Maps and location

Maps load tiles from OpenFreeMap. If you press the locate button on a map, your browser shares your location with the map on your device only; we do not store it. Google Maps links open Google's own service, which has its own privacy policy.

Some links to places to stay, tours and outdoor kit are affiliate links, marked as sponsored. If you book or buy after clicking one, the company pays us a small commission. You pay the same price, and it never decides what we write about or recommend. Where a hotel has its own booking link, we show that first.

These links go through Stay22 (places to stay, and tours on GetYourGuide) and Skimlinks (shops). When you click one, that company sets its own cookies to credit the booking to us, under its own privacy policy. If you allow cookies when asked, we also load Skimlinks' script, which can turn other links to shops into affiliate links; if you say no, it never loads. A hotel's own booking and website links are never turned into affiliate links.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Use the contact page to do this. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
