About Only Cumbria

Only Cumbria is an independent guide to the whole county: the Lake District, and also Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall, the Eden Valley, the west coast, Furness, the Solway and the Howgills.

How we make the walk guides

Each route line is drawn along footpaths mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors. Distance, ascent and time are worked out from that line and elevation data rather than copied from elsewhere, and every walk has a GPX file you can load into your own mapping app. Where we have walked and checked a route ourselves, the page says so and gives the date.

How we choose places

Nobody pays to be listed or reviewed. If we ever run a paid partnership, it will be labelled clearly on the page.

Corrections

Paths get diverted, car parks change hands, and businesses close. If you spot something wrong, use the contact page and we will fix it.
